Haxhinasto: Belle Air’s bankruptcy declaration, unexpected

25/11/2013 00:00

“Belle Air” Company has temporarily suspended all flights due to
financial problems, while hundreds of travelers were blocked in Italian
airports.

“After eight years of successful operations from Albania to European destinations, Belle Air has been obliged to suspend its flights temporarily. The reasons that brought this are the general economic situation, the dropping of the buying power, recession in the markets where we operate and the blockage of all bank accounts for more than 18 days”, the company declared.

200 people were blocked in Verona, Italy, obliged to pass the night in a hotel. Many of them cannot buy tickets to other lines for returning to Albania. Top Channel contacted with passengers, who said that they had not been notified about this canceling.

Protest at the “Mother Tereza” airport

A group of 500-600 people protested at the “Mother Tereza” airport, because this Sunday they have purchased tickets even after 20:00, but today they cannot travel.

There are 10 airlines that have been suspended. Passengers say that they have received an SMS which have notified them that they can continue their flight by adding 60 Euros and using another company. But so far, there has been no reaction.

Sources at the airport say that they have asked citizens to stay calm, and that they will soon find a solution for them.

Haxhinasto: No account has been blocked

The Minister of Transportatation, Edmond Haxhinasto, decared that no account of Belle Air has been seized, and that this situation is created due to their bad management of this situation.

“We will open the civil aviation market for a more qualitative service”, Haxhinasto declared. According to the Minister, Belle Air has not paid its obligations although they had half of the market share.
