Harvard University, USA, technical assistance for Tirana’s urban plan

The Harvard University will start a program which offers technical
assistance to the urban development and innovation of Albania’s capital,
Tirana.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj; Simmon Battisti, coordinator for Education and Planning; Ditjon Baboci, Director General for Urban Planning at the Tirana Municipality, attended a conference held yesterday at the Harvard University, USA.

In this conference was introduced the General Local Plan for Albania’s capital, together with the “Harvard-Tirana” scholarship program, for students who attend the doctoral program and who will work with Tirana urban planning.

Starting from this summer, with Harvard scholarships, the Municipality of Tirana will receive the most talented students of the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Design and Urban Planning.

These students will work with the urban planning department of the Tirana municipality, on projects related to the Tirana General Local Plan, which was recently approved by the Municipal Council.

This 1200-page-long plan will be the base of Tirana’s urban development in the next 13 years, with 13 main strategic projects.
