Harsher laws against online abuse and blackmail

The government will amend laws against online abusers with harsher fines and even prison sentences.

The new measures aim to limit children access on internet or on websites that damage personal data of minors.

A study from the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection shows that teenagers from 15 to 18 years old have opened 2 to 5 profiles on social media and have more than 200 people following them.

Young minors are endangered not only by sexual abuse, but also by blackmail and other offenses.

“Law offenders will be fined from 200.000 to 2 million ALL”, said Besnik Dervishi, Commissioner for the Right of Information.
