Harsh Parliamentary debates after emerged photos

28/02/2013 00:00

After the publication of the photo that shows the suspect for the murder
of Dritan Lamaj dining with the main Chiefs of the Albanian police, the
Socialist leader Edi Rama asked the resignation of the Interior
Minister, Flamur Noka; the General Chief of Police, Hysni Burgaj and the
Vice General Chief, Kulicaj.

“The surprise of the notorious Kulici and the declarations of Burgaj are the incarnation of the state police. The fact that they abandoned the case is a manner to cover the truth that is seen openly by the alibi of the vice Director and the declarations of the Chief of Police. The silence of the Interior Minister is the closing of a history that should continue with the resignation of the three of them. These three people are the curse of the Albanian police. They are the face of the daily betrayal, the hand that brought its ruin; the brain of corruption and smuggling and the mediators of criminals”, Rama declared.

Rama declared that Prime Minister Berisha is aware of what is happening.

Berisha: The Interior Ministry will find the authors

PM Berisha avoided direct comments for the photos in which some high rank state police are seen with Arben Frroku, the main suspect for the murder of Dritan Lamaj.

Berisha defended the State Police and the Interior Ministry and praised them for doing their job.

“I have expressed my admiration for Dritan Lamaj. The police responded very quickly to find the authors of this ugly crime. The Ministry and the Prosecution have all the mechanisms to find the truth. They are working and I trust that they will succeed. The Interior Ministry has all the potentials to find the truth about the murder”, Berisha declared.

Berisha gave these comments after the homage paid to the former Secret Service agents (Besnik Hidri and Leke Cokaj) who were killed in February 1997, in Vlore. The former Secret Service agents were declared martyrs in 2006, while the President gave them the Golden Eagle medal. After the homage Berisha held a meeting with President Bujar Nishani.

Harsh debates in Parliament. Noka: Photos are not a threat to investigations.

The Socialist MPs showed the photo in Parliament and underlined that the Speaker should have ordered a one minute silence for Dritan Lamaj.

Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli intervened and said that the opposition must apologize for the accusations made against Lamaj in the past.

Socialist MP Sajmir Tahiri asked the resignation of the Interior Minister, Flamur Noka, who answered by saying that if he would have to base investigations based on similar photos, the MPs should resign from Parliament.

“MP Tahiri has dined with Lamaj, while Balla has criminal connections”, Noka declared, and asked them to not hamper the investigation, saying that the photos are not a threat for the investigation.
