Haradinaj: “The tax on Serbian goods, when Belgrade recognizes Kosovo”

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, declared that the 100% tax on Serbian goods will not be removed until Serbia recognizes the independence of Kosovo.

Haradinaj made these declarations in the Parliament session, held to discuss the country’s foreign policy.

“I think that the measures that we have imposed towards the goods that come from Serbia should remain until Serbia recognizes Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country”, Haradinaj declared.

After leaving the Parliament, Haradinaj told journalists that he wrote to EU ambassadors and to the representative of the EU in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova. He informed her of the reasons why the tax was imposed.

“Kosovo will guard its own interest. This is because Serbia didn’t respect trade relations with us. We increased our aggressive stance”, Haradinaj declared.

The EU made appeals to the Kosovo government to remove the tax.
