The Serbian Ministry of Justice sent to the French authorities the
extradition request for Ramush Haradinaj, as announced by the Serbian
news agency, Tanjug, which quotes sources from the ministry.

The Ministry has attached to the request documents translated to French, which will be used by the French  authorities to decide if they will extradite the KLA former commander or not.

Haradinaj was arrested past Wednesday at the Basel-Mulhouse airport, by the French police, after an arrest order released by Belgrade authorities in 2004.

Serbia accuses Haradinaj of war crimes in 1998 and 1999, which, according to Serbian media, were not part of the trials held in Hague, for which Haradinaj was found not guilty.

The Serbian authorities say that the crimes in question were carried out against the civilian population near the Dukagjin area.
