Former Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, explained on KTV the reason why he was released from French authorities.
“We filed for the order-arrest to be invalidated, but it wasn’t decided because the Serbian side has not presented their arguments yet. Serbia is abusing with the law with this”, Haradinaj said.
Haradinaj, former Prime Minister and also leader of the AAK, was arrested a few days ago in a French airport, due to an arrest order issued in 2004 by Serbian police, accusing him of war crimes. Although Haradinaj was found not guilty by the Court of Hague, twice, Serbian authorities say he is accused for crimes that were not tried in Hague.
The former Kosovo Liberation Army leader says he is surprised by the sudden decision of France, since he has traveled in many EU countries, and also to France, and has never been arrested.
“I was told INTERPOL has reactivated these actions by request of Serbia”, he said, insisting this is about an arrest order of 2004.
Belgrade, on the other hand, insists on the extradition idea.
The Serbian Justice Minister, Nela Kuburovic, said that France has the legal duty to hand the AAK leader over, saying there are 30 witnesses against him. She added that Serbia will not withdraw from these claims.
