Only 15 minutes of hail destroyed the apple orchards in the area of Devoll in the south of Albania, while in the villages of Mancurisht, Progër, Zëmblak, Cangonj and some other places the level of damage is 80%.
The hail of the previous day in the villages of the Administrative Unit of Progri has caused significant damage to other agricultural crops.
In addition to the damage to the apples, the rapid storm has flattened the crops, causing a year’s work of the farmers to be lost. Tons of apples this year will be thrown by farmers, for whom every year it becomes more difficult due to lack of market or even natural factors.
In the whole Municipality of Devoll, the damage caused by the hail in the apple orchards is estimated at 40%. Verification groups have been set up which will go to each village to estimate the damages and then send the practice to the Civil Emergencies for compensation.
