The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, said that the EU accession negotiations could be interrupted without having “big fish” punished for their crimes.
This is the warning of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement. Johannes Hahn.
In an interview for the daily German newspaper Suttgarter Zeitung, Hahn said that without arresting “big fish”, EU could even interrupt Albania’s EU negotiation process.
According to Johannes Hahn, although Albania has progressed with the reforms, the corruption cases have not led to the arrest of any important figure.
“Albania and FYROM are now ready for accession. However, the reforms can be realized during the accession process. The Western Balkan countries have a legal situation that can be compared to ours, but we pay attention if the laws are implemented. Without progress in this direction, we could even interrupt the negotiations”, he declared.
