Brussels is expecting a clear report from Tirana and Skopje about the
final damage caused by the floods, so that they can organize a possible
conference of donators, as they did with Serbia and Bosnia last
november.
When asked by Top Channel, before the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers, the Austrian Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, declared that he had discussed with Prime Minister Bushati about this issue.
“As for Albania, I have contacted with the Foreign Minister about this issue. As always, the EU gives support in case of natural disasters. But for any case, we need data on the damage and cost caused by the damage. This will be decided when we will have a better idea. Then we will organize something, because we are aware about the consequences of natural disasters”, Hahn declared.
Top Channel: “Will you visit Albania during the next week? Will the Committee be represented by you at the High Rank dialogue, or at any dialogue in Tirana?
Johannes Hahn: Certainly, we have plans to visit Albania because it is one of our main partners in Balkan. We need to go there.
The agenda of the Commissioner for the Enlargement Negotiations and European Neighboring foresees two-day visits in Skopje and Prishtina, but it is not clear yet about his first visit to Tirana.
