In an interview for Talking Europe, on “France 24”, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, underlined once again the importance of Western Balkan’s integration.
“We are not talking about lower prices, but these countries need to be assisted. They need to fulfill the expectancies”, he said.
“We have published our strategy in February, showing our perspective to each country. The entire process, not only the negotiations, are based on merit. This is not about lowering the price, but it is in our interest to encourage and assist them”, Hahn said.
He added that Western Balkan countries are being surrounded by EU member countries, and if they become members one day, it would be some sort of consolidation.
