The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, thanked the Albanian
writer, Ismail Kadare, for his support to the EU Ambassador, Romana
Vlahutin.

“I want to thank the great writer Ismail Kadare for his support to the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin. The EU is working hard for the entire people of Albania”, Hahn said.

One day ago, the Albanian writer sent a letter to the EU Ambassador, Romana Vlahutin, and asked her to not take the opinion of a non-normal person with the opinion of an entire people.

“Allow me to address you this completely personal letter for the shock that I felt after the unscrupulous offense made against you by the Albanian people. This is not about to explain the offense of a non-normal man, because this doesn’t have much to do with an entire people and an entire society. The offense that was posted by the press of my country brought us all towards our responsibilities. Despite being a known writer, I cannot take the responsibility to answer for whatever may happen in this country, good or bad. I wanted to share with you the sadness someone might feel when goes to a country with the purpose to help overcome problems, and then faces such ingratitude. Dear Romana Vlahutin, I would like to apologize and guarantee you that the gratitude for your person will be untouched”, Kadare said in his letter.

This letter came after Kastriot Myftaraj said for the EU Ambassador: “Every Albanian who loves his country could kill Romana Vlahutin and make an anti-terror act”, he wrote.

For this comment, the Police cooperated with the Prosecution and detained Myftaraj for appealing for violent acts. He was released a few hours later.
