Gruevski: “We refused Albanian as second official language”

08/02/2017 00:00

Nikola Gruevski, former Prime Minister of Macedonia and leader of
VMRO-DPMNE, was today in a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador, during
which he said that they failed to form a government with BDI due to the
platform presented by the Albanian party, not because of the Special
Public Prosecution.

VMRO opposed having Albanian as an official second language in Macedonia, but they agreed to work on solutions that could improve its usage in areas of Albanian majority.

Gruevski’s party reminds they won more parliamentary seats than any other party, and that’s why they insist to hold new elections, arguing that other scenarios would bring more crises.

As for the Special Prosecution, they say it should operate professionally and not as a branch of the LSDM. It should be based on the agreement reached in June and July 2015, without having its mandate extended.
