The former Prime Minister of Macedonia, Nikolla Gruevski, declared through a Facebook post that the Hungarian authorities have accepted his request for political asylum.
“Hungary, a NATO and EU member, responded positively to my request for political asylum, due to the prosecution that I am facing in the Republic of Macedonia, by the new government led by the Social-Democratic Union of Macedonia.
“I am not escaping justice. I am seeking justice through other democratic ways”, Gruevski wrote, accusing the government of ruining the rule of law and putting the judiciary into chaos.
