The Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikolla Gruevski, added fuel to the fire
by answering to the declaration of the Albanian Prime Minister, saying
that the protests of Albanians in Macedonia have nothing to do with the
implementation of the Ochrid Agreement, but are encouraged by radical
religious elements.

Edi Rama declared yesterday that one of the main causes for the protests in Macedonia is because the Ochrid agreement ahs not been implemented.

The protests have spread today in the city of Kumanova, with dozens of young people and intellectuals chanting against selective justice, regarding the sentencing of six Albanians.

The famous Ochrid Agreement, which ended the fightings in Macedonia, has a series of points that have not been implemented.

The agreement foresees the approval of a law that strengthened the authority of the local government and would increase their competences.

As for just representation and non-discrimination, the agreement provided an equal representation of every person, police officers from any ethnicity, based on the population, 1/3rd of the Constitutional Court should represent the population that is not an ethnic majority.

As for the Education and Language Use, if one language is spoken by more than 20% of the population, it should be an official language.

Point no.8 of the agreement says that all Constitutional Amends proposed by the minority population should be brought to Parliament 45 days after the agreement has been reached.

The Ochrid Agreement has not been implemented even 13 years after it has been signed.
