The Greek authorities have started a giant operation with the paradoxial
name “XeniosZeus” that in ancient Greek meant hostility for foreigners.

More tan 1880 police agents were sent at the Turkish-Greek border for stopping and returning thousands of illegal emigrants that enter the Greek territory each day. One of the causes for this oepration is the warning that the German Interior Minister has made to Athens and Ankara. Berlin fears a massive emigration wave from Syria through Turkey and Greece, spreading throughout the entire Central Europe.

This issue has been a priority in some meetings of high rank EU officials who have discussed the help that these two countries need to face the massive movement of the population fleeing the fight zones.

1500 Greek police officers have started an operation in every house and alley for collecting and transferring to the hospitality centers hundreds of emigrants who are illegally crossing the Greek city.

According to the Greek Interior Minister, Nicos Dhenidas, the operation aims to clean the central areas from illegal emigrants and secure the border with Turkey for a possible wave from Syria. He emphasized that they must show that Greece is not an unowned land.
