Greek crisis felt in Gjirokaster

The Gjirokaster residents are feeling the consequences of the Greek
crisis. In this town there are many Greek-Albanian enterprises, mainly
in the active processing industry.

Six big businesses have been closed in the last two months, due to the inability to pay the bills and the workers.

The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gjirokaster, Mustafa Devolli, notifies that the situation is deteriorating.

The businesses were the ones who felt the Greek financial crisis first, which has concerned Athens even more.

The factories that produce police uniforms for the Greek Police and Army have not taken the production to Greece, since the liquidation fund has not been approved yet.

The Kakavija border checkpoint with Greece has had a minimal traffic, due to the unclear situation of a new possible strike, which this time might be indefinite.

The economic relations between Greece and Albania have been plunging since 2009, while the import and export exchange rate is increasingly falling.
