The quick return of the Albanian emigrants in Greece, who visited
Albania for Easter, has caused constant problems in the Kapshtica border
checkpoint.
Same as in every year, even this time the Greek part of the border has paralyzed the work by leaving emigrants in queues for the entire night. The queue of parked cars was almost 3 kilometers long.
The Greek side of the border claimed that the TIMS system had been broken for around two hours, and they took no measures to increase the number of tolls, despite the flux. The Greek side of the border worked with only one toll for more than 24 hours, and with a very slow pace. This Tuesday also expired the deadline to allow the passing of children who are born in Greece and whose birthplace is written in the Albanian language on their passports. The delays have put in risk their passage to Greece, and the Albanian emigrants have reacted with nervousness.
This story in the Albanian-Greek border has been happening almost every time that the emigrants come home for the holidays. Authorities say that 4934 people and 1072 vehicles have crossed the border until Tuesday.
