The Greek Police published this Sunday footage of authorities chasing an inflatable power boat, transporting drug from Albania.
Top Channel’s correspondent in Athens, Artur Bibe, referred to police sources and said that the boat was traveling from Himara.
The Greek Police arrested two Albanians and one Italian citizen, and suspect that they had confronted the boat 10 days ago.
The seized cannabis weighs 1.6 tons, and the investigations led to the arrest of 10 other people: 6 Albanians, two Italians, one Bulgarian and one Greek citizen.
The Greek authorities said the operation was very dangerous, since the suspects had a very powerful boat and they were armed, even exchanged gunfire with the police and surrendered only when one of them was wounded.
Greek sources say that the Albanian authorities have contacted their Greek counterparts since this weekend, but there have been no details as the operation is undergoing.
Same sources confirmed exclusively for Top Channel’s correspondent that the Greek authorities suspect the criminal group is tied to complex political and political interests in Albania.
Balili’s case, who was able to escape, has apparently made the Greek authorities hesitant before reaching to their Albanian counterparts for cooperation.
Top Channel’s team has kept reporting about the traffic of this huge amount of drug. The footage filmed by Top Chanenl’s operator, Ilia Poci, were also used by Greek TV outlets.
