The Greek Foreign Ministry says the urban plan approved by the Himara Municipal Council is a violation of minority rights.
The meeting of the council started with tensions, until the representatives of the United for Human Rights left the room. This event was commented by the Spokesperson for the Greek Foreign Ministry, Aleksandros Gennimatas.
“The Albanian authorities apparently think that violating the rights of the Greek minority is more important than the European progress of their country”, the Spokesperson declared during a press release.
Protesters led by Fredi Beleri, the leader of Omonia in Himara, and businessman Nikollaq Neranxi, tried to enter the improvised room of the Municipal Council to interrupt it.
The plan was approved afterwards nu SP, DP and SMI councilors, with consensus.
