Despite the long crisis, Greece is still the main investor and partner
of the Albanian economy, according to the Greek Public News Agency,
referring to the Bank of Albania and the Economic and Commercial Office
of the Greek Embassy in Tirana.
Recent statistics from the Bank of Albania show that the value of assets owned by Greek companies remains over 1.2 billion EUR, 25% of the total of foreign investments in Albania.
Dutch companies come second, with a total of 870 million EUR. The stock of direct foreign investments in the Albanian economy has increased at 5.8 billion EUR for the first trimester of 2017.
This is about investments done through the years and that are currently owned by foreign companies. According to the bulleting of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Greek Embassy in Tirana, these assets have increased with 800 million EUR.
According to these sources, sectors attracting most foreign investments are: communication and information, with 1.2 billion EUR, which includes telecommunication companies, companies of technology and information, call centers, etc. The gas and electric energy industry has investments more than 1 billion EUR in total, used in hydropower plants and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline. The third sector with most investments, the financial one, ahs 952 million EUR.
