The Ministry of Finances withdrew from the initial variant of the draft
law that raises contributions for free professions. The Deputy Minister
of Finances, Irena Beqiraj, said that the insurance that this category
will pay will be decided by criteria brought by the Council of
Ministers.
“Now we will take in consideration the type of professions, the area where it is conducted, the work experience, the size of the company, etc”, Beqiraj declared.
But the opposition said this goes against the Constitution if decided by the Council of Ministers, since taxes are imposed by laws voted in Parliament.
This claim was rejected by the Deputy Minister of Finances, who reminded the opposition they used to impose taxes with reference payments when they were in power.
The initial variant of this law increased taxes for free professions like lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, etc. The draft was opposed by the groups of interests, saying it would cause massive bankruptcies and higher fees.
