Government will privatize ship maintenance service

The Albanian government will privatize the maintenance system for ship, in all ports of our country.
The Ministry of Transportation has started a bid for a 191.8 million ALL agreement, or 1.5 million EUR, which will give the winner a 5-year monopoly for service of all ships in Durres, Shengjin, Vlore, Saranda, Porto Romano, Vlore Petrolifera and all other ports in Albania. After this, it will be returned to the state.
The bid will be held on February 24th, with all interested companies which will have to fulfill seven criteria related to the quality of equipments and the taxes paid to the government.
Official data show that our country moves 3 million tons of goods and 1.5 million passengers a year, making sea transportation the busiest one in Albania.
