After signing an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the
Albanian government started paying the debts to businesses. The Ministry
of Finances has published the list of unpaid obligations for public
works, and the reimbursement of the VAT, which reaches a value of 30
billion ALL.
The Deputy Minister of Finances, Erion Luci, says that 14 billion ALL are the complete bill that will be paid in the next weeks. Six billion ALL will be paid by the respective institutions.
The VAT bills reach 7.4 billion ALL, and they will be paid in the next week. The unpaid bills from the past government start since 2005. 80% of the unpaid bills are for public works made for the infrastructure, 15% for education, and 5% for the health sector.
Deputy Minister Luci says that these lists include services for which there have been bills. Others can complain and follow all legal steps if there have been no bills issued.
