In the Economy Committee of the Albanian Parliament were discussed today some changes and additions that the interest groups requested be made to the Law on Games, aimed at the return of online sports and betting.
The Chairman of the Commission proposed that in the selection criteria of the 10 national operators that will be provided with a license, in addition to the initial capital of 100 million ALL, another component should be added for the amounts of investments that the companies intend to make on their platforms.
Another proposal is to create a system where every transaction on online gaming platforms leaves a mark. Further on the MPs also proposed the creation of a database, so that the poorer strata are not allowed to play.

The MPs requested changes to the way of taxation for online sports betting
“You know how much the state gets for 100 ALL played… only 1.12 lek. In addition to the tax that is zero for the players, we have accepted that in this country only small businesses will have a zero percent tax. Therefore, we must look at the way of taxation not only to give the state budget some more money, but also to make this game as less playable as possible,” said MP Erjon Braçe.
The changes will be reviewed by the Ministry of Finance, while the final draft of the law is expected to be voted on in parliament before the end of this year.
