Prime Minister Sali Berisha opened the government meeting by thanking the football national team. During his speech, Berisha welcomed the 1-0 victory over Belarus and promised a reward for the football players.

“We will reward our national team players with 10,000 Euros. It was one of the best matches in our history. This reward is fully deserved. This is the highest ranking ever reached by our national team. I wish them greater achievements”, Berisha declared.

The head of the government spoke about the business, especially the manufacturing industries, which are increasing the production and exports of “Made in Albania” products. Expressing his esteem for this business category, Berisha promised support from his cabinet.

“Made in Albania” exports are leading and this is a very positive event. But this industry has a special merit. It is the greatest sector, after some services. This industry, with its advancements and its increasing managerial capacities is being transformed into an exportation industry”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister declared that the Arab revolution wave has increased the number of businesses that are turning their eyes towards Albania.

Since this would bring profits in production and employment, Berisha notified a tax removal in customs.

“The Jasmine’s revolution in Arab countries, which is a great event for the development of humanity and freedom, has created a situation that has forced many businessmen and industrialists who used to produce in these countries, to come and look for possibilities in Albania, considering it as a country with the appropriate business climate. This is a big possibility not only for the production, but even for the employment of Albanian workers. On these conditions, the Albanian government decides to transform the 12.5% tax to zero for the goods of this industry”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister admitted that the budget will feel the loss of this tax, but on the other hand, he valued that this decision encourages business that, according to him, will compensate with greater revenues next year.

Prime Minister Berisha spoke about the infrastructure projects, especially the Tirana-Elbasan tunnel, which will decrease the distance between the two cities.

“We agreed with the Islamic Development Bank to build the Tirana-Elbasan highway, opening a tunnel through “Kërraba”. This work will make Tirana-Elbasan distance smaller than the Tirana-Fushë Kruja distance, and these two cities will evolve in one single big market. The project costs 407 million dollars, but the competition race resulted with good savings. The government is decided to finance every dime of this project”, Berisha underlined.

Head of the government added that this tunnel, “Qafë Morina Tunnel” and “Kalimashi Tunnel” have brought Albanians nearer than ever.
