The Health Ministry will offer this year a package of free health tests
for everyone between 40 and 65 years of age, in order to keep the most
common diseases of this agegroup under control.
The initial plan was offering it for ages from 40 to 60, but the Health Minister from the SMI, Petrit Vasili, proposed to include everyone until 65.
“The funds have been decided in the budget, but not specifically for this age group. As government, we decided to include the group ages until 65 and analyze what had been required. We undertook to realize what has been requested, and we didn’t need an amend for this, because that age group was not part of the budget law, but part of the health program”, declared the Health Minister, Ilir Beqja.
With the new tax package of 2014, the government has increased the excise for cigaretters, alcoholic drinks and energy, an initiative that according to doctors will have an impact on the public health. On the other hand, it has been required that 1/5th of the excise should be added to the health budget for improving the service quality and the public health care.
The working groups are ready and are preparing the package of basic checks for people from 40 to 65 of age, to keep under control the characteristic diseases of this group age.
