Government, measures for increasing road safety

In a joint declaration with the Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, the Minister of Transports, Edmond Haxhinasto, declared that the package of measures foresees amends in the Criminal and Traffic Code.

“We will liberalize the vehicle inspection market. We will make everything possible to reinforce the testing for receiving licenses, and we will end under the counter payments for driving licenses”, Haxhinasto declared.

The Minister also announced that they will inspect the quality of vehicles.

The Minister explained that there would be important interventions for preserving roads as a national asset, by establishing a clear standard for driving on them.

“There will be reforms in the public transportation, since the vehicles that will circulate will have better standards and certified drivers”, Haxhinasto declared.

Minister Tahiri announced that the package planned by the government will guarantee maximal road safety and the current situation of the Albanian roads will be left behind.
