Government leaves disabled people out of assistance scheme

After amending the law for the status of the blind and paraplegic
people, the government decided to leave all categories of disabled
people outside the economic assistance scheme.

Chairman of the Labor Disabled people, Abdulla Omuri, declared for Top News that starting from 1 February, 9800 Labor disabled people will not receive economic assistance as they used to.

Omuri considered this action as discrimination against the disabled people, in a time when the government takes absurd decisions for compensating ministers, such as the decision mp.87 of 7 February 2012, which states that the members of the National Council of Territory members will be compensated with 20.000 ALL for every participation in meetings.

The government decision has been sent to the local units, and the administrators are planning the new lists, removing the disabled people from the economic assistance scheme. The social administrator at the Tirana Municipal Unit 5, Enida Tela, declared for Top News that this decision has caused harsh reactions among the disabled people.
