The testimony of Ilir Meta in front of the Prosecution of Serious crimes
has went on for 90 minutes. The Parliament Speaker answered to
questions about the accusations raised against him for an attempted
murder against MP Tom Doshi.

The Parliament Speaker declared that he is open for a thorough investigation of the entire case, and reiterates that the video has been made up. He called it “Video from Tom Doshi for Tom Doshi”.

Meta said he was ready to confront Doshi and Berisha, if the Prosecutors see it necessary.

“I am cooperating with the Prosecution for a full investigation of this case, by only respecting the law. I have expressed my readiness to confront with the two accusers, if the Prosecution sees it reasonable, Doshi and Berisha, and with whoever who claims that he has evidence for my involvement. Only Berisha can see the video of Tom Doshi for Tom Doshi as an evidence. Tom Doshi is more of an anti-evidence than legal evidence”, Meta declared.

The Parliament Speaker was asked about the opposition’s request for his resignation, which has been mentioned several times by the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha.

“The request comes from Basha, who has been accused for the corruptive affair of 230 million EUR for the Durres-kUkes highway and not only didn’t even leave the government, but he did everything to close the case without going to the end of it… He is the excellent model for the investigations”, Meta declared.

The SMI leader declared that as Parliament Speaker and as MP, he cannot influence the investigation. He added that the accusations are coming from the opposition. Meta called it a blackmail that the Socialist Parliamentary Group did not accept.

Meta answered positively to the opposition’s request on this Thursday, which invited him to testify together with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, and the Parliament Members Sali Berisha, Mhilll Fufi and Mark Frroku.

The latter was summoned by the Prosecution regarding the testimony given by Tom Doshi. The name of the Democratic Christian MP was mentioned as the person who warned Doshi about the murder attempt. Doshi confirmed this even on the exclusive interview with Top Channel’s host of “Top Story”, Sokol Balla.

The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, appeared at the Prosecution of Serious Crimes today at 10:00 and 12:00.

Both government representatives, together with Ilir Meta, confirmed the declaration they had given one day ago. It remains to be seen if Sali Berisha will go to the Prosecution, after he was invited to testify based on the declarations in Parliament.

After leaving the Prosecution, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that only a thorough investigation for anyone is the only way that can liberate the public and politics from the nightmare of this story.

“The time when the Prime Minister could treat the Prosecution like food for dogs was over after June 23rd 2013. I wish that the invitation for coming here today can be an expression of the Prosecution’s will to reveal the truth of this ugly story”, Rama added.

“The Albanian public was like being held hostage into this story with political characters, with thugs who act through a screenplay that has the former Prime Minister as protagonist. Whatever we say remains just words. The Albanian people are fed up with words. Only a thorough investigation and making anyone accountable for all of his legal responsibilities can liberate the Albanian public and politics. I believe that this shameful scene might turn into something good for the public by bringing to justice those who are responsible. This ugly story cannot end like a movie. The political life of the Albanian people cannot continue like from one movie to another”, Rama declared.
