Government leaders pay homage to fallen agent, Ibrahim Basha

The highest leaders of the Albanian government, representatives of the
international community and ambassadors gathered today to pay homage to
the Special Force agent who died yesterday in Lazarat.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that everyone who was present in this ceremony, was honoring a hero who should remind us that peace is not a gift from God, but a sacrifice and dedication of people we don’t know:
“Ibrahim Basha is being buried as a martyr in a time of peace. We are here to honor him, although our honor will not return him the future that was taken away. His life stopped today because of his duty. We are here for those who give their life for a safer country. That’s why we salute with great honor and deep respect the family and parents of Ibrahim Basha”, Rama declared.
Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, declared that “challenges make us stronger. Difficulties make our path even more clear”.
Tahiri said that Ibrahim Basha was killed in a country where there is no war, but, in this country, for the past two decades there have been events that have scarred our nation, such as Lazarat, the village that knew no rule of law and that took his life.
“The coward hand that took your life in that village full of honest people, has been challenging the rule of law for the past 20 years. That hand has killed something in each of us”, Tahiri declared.
The US Ambasador, Donald Lu, spoke in homage of Ibrahim Basha. He valued his contribution to the peace-keeping missions.
“We honor the contribution of Corporal Ibrahim Basha in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has received medals for the service offered in these dangerous missions”, Lu declared.
On behalf of NATO and the US, Mr.Lu expressed condolences to his family and all Albanians.
The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, declared that Ibrahim Basha completed his work with honor, that’s why he deserves permanent honor and gratitude.
“You and your colleagues have made us proud with your countribution. Unfortunately, terrorism hit us cowardly. It is our duty to establish justice”, Meta declared.
He added that this sublime sacrifice should serve to create a righteous society and strong justice.
