Government cuts 729 jobs

In 2012, the state institutions will have 720 less employees than this year, a
clear sign of the government’s desire to save money, due to the
financial difficulties of the crisis.

The government’s draft budget says that the number of the state employees will be 0.8% smaller, compared to the budget reviewed this year. The biggest number of jobs will be cut by the Ministry of Defense, Education and Science and that of the Foreign Affairs, while the Interior Ministry will have more staff.

The number of state employees has fallen each year recently, due to the government’s desire to increase wages, while the funds are more and more limited.

The government will save millions of EUR from the last job cuts. There are 167.000 Albanians who work in the state administration, or 13rd of the employed Albanians. The self-employed in agriculture are considered as employed with a payment from the nature.

The personnel expenses, which are 22.1% of the total expenses, have been realized to 64.2 for the annual plan. Compared to one year ago, the personel expenses are 1.6 billion ALL higher, or 3.6% more.

The expenses on wages are 3.6% higher than one year ago, or 1.3 billion ALL more, while the expenses for the social insurences are 210 million ALL more, or 3.7% higher than one year ago.
