Government about to propose law that makes slander a criminal act

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, warned that the government will propose a package of laws against slander.

Top Channel inquired and government sources underline that despite Rama’s public stance, there is no rush for the law.

The sources also state that the law will be based on the German code, aiming to turn slander into a criminal act, punishable by law. In Germany, slander can even send someone to prison.

However, the fact remains that Rama doesn’t have the 84 parliamentary votes to pass the law.
