Gordon: Clinton to visit Albania soon

The summit “state-building and the European experience” is being held in
Dubrovnik, Croatia, where Prime Minister Sali Berisha met the US Deputy
Secretary of State, Philip Gordon.

Deputy Secretary Gordon expressed his pleasure to meet Berisha and passed him the greetings of the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, and her desire to visit Albania soon.

Berisha expressed his special pleasure for meeting Mr. Gordon and asked him to tell Secretary Clinton that the Albanians would be very happy and proud to welcome her as a special friend of Albania and the Albanian nation in this historical year of the 100th anniversary of independence. In this meeting were discussed the recent developments in Albania and the progress of reforms in all areas.

Berisha updated the Deputy Secretary Gordon with the recent developments, especially the fulfillment of the 12 recommendations of the European Commission, the positive progress of the electoral reform and the very important initiative of the coalition MPs for removing the immunity to high rank officials and judges.

Berisha also had a meeting with the Deputy Chancellor and Foreign Minister of Austria, Mr. Michael Spindelegger, who promised that the sword and the helmet of the Albanian national hero, Scanderbeg, will be brought to Albania for the 100th year of independence.
