November is reported as a positive month for Albanian exports. Data from the Institute of Statistics show that last month they reached the value of ALL 27 billion (or EUR 217.3 million), an increase of 10.5% more compared to the same period of 2019.
However, in the 11-month range, the situation still remains far from normal as the pandemic has dropped to almost ALL 28 billion or EUR 225.3 million in total.
The largest contribution to the expansion of exports was given by the sector of machinery and equipment with 4.3%, mainly as a result of the opening of two new factories in the automotive industry in the country. The construction materials and metals also had an impact on the positive turn of exports, marking an increase of 3.5%, while food continues not to feel the effects of the pandemic and to follow an increasing trend again.
Textiles and footwear continue to feel the effects of the pandemic, seeing another contraction in November, as a result of the blocking measures taken by the countries to which they send goods, with a decrease of ALL 341 million less than in 2019. The pandemic seems to has increased the amount of “Made in Albania” goods to Germany and countries in the region such as Macedonia and Greece, while it has shrunk them to Spain as a result of the significant decline in manufacturing work.
