Five prestigious international companies from Britain, the United
States, France and Greece, including CNN, raced for the competition
announced by the Albanian government. 110 foreign companies applied for
the promoting logo and slogan of Albania in the world.
The international jury led by the Italian journalist, Bruno Vespa, followed for more than four hours the presentations o five companies that reached the final. The Minister of Tourism, Eglantina Gjermeni, declared that Branding Albania aims to change the troubled image of our country. Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that this is a very important process.
“This is a beautiful day for us, and I am sure it is a marked day for the projection of our image abroad. The image is concluded with the logo, but it is built with the works that need to be really done. We have suffered a negative image for years. Certainly, Albanians have contributed on their own for this image, but it is also true that most of that image is based on old perceptions and judgments, or prejudices that we never could avoid. I am certain that the winning studio will be an ally and one more instrument to fight this negative image, and for giving more positive energy about Albania and the Albanian people”, Rama declared, thanking the participants and the jury members.
The jury declared as winner the American company “StrawberryFrog”, whose selected slogan was “Go your own way”.
“I like to think that we won because we expressed a strong passion for Albania. We presented only one idea, which we think will have the support of all Albanians. We didn’t just bring one promotion idea. We want to present a special Albania through our proposition, a unique one, not just a European country. A special country that is called Albania”, declared Kevin McKeon, representative of StrawberryFrog.
The Mayor of Gjakova, Mimoza Kusari Lila, member of the jury, declared that this competition was the right way for making a decent promotion of Albania.
“StrawberryFrog” is a company with good experience in the marketing and promotion area. It was founded in 1999, in Amsterdam, by Scot Goodson. They grew quickly and are currently working in three continents, through Amsterdam in Europe, New York in Northern America, and Sao Paolo in Southern America.
“I believe that the best way for promoting Albania was this competition, which serves to the cause. I think that as a jury we have done a good job, and the real work will be seen after one year”, Kusari declared.
