Gjosha dismisses threats for visa reinstatement

European Integration Minister, Klajda Gjosha, hopes for a positive progress report feedback from European Commission in two months’ time, and reassures Albanians there is no chance of visa reinstatement because of the wave of asylum seekers in recent months.

In an exclusive interview, Gjosha says EC expects Albania to complete as soon as possible the justice system reform that will pave the way for the negotiations of EU integration process. She insists that Albania has completed 90% of the 5 priority tasks given by European authorities, a debated figure, but easily measurable according to her, despite disagreements from the opposition. She mentioned the part our Foreign Ministry is doing in this process, saying teams from both institutions will present the report during official diplomatic visits abroad.

As for the latest development and the rising of asylum seekers from Albania, especially to Germany, Gjosha admits the country is risking its reputation and urged people not to embark on such a trip, because the extremely low percentage of success. But she insisted Albania does not risks visa reinstatement, instead those who apply for asylum have more possibility to be banned from Germany and other EU countries.
