Gjirokastra is not only one of the Albanian towns that are protected by
UNESCO, but also an interesting place for Albanian tourists.
The Minister of Social Welfare, Erion Veliaj, inaugurated the “Gjirokastra Weekend” in the “Vellezerit Frasheri” square, in Tirana, and invited all citizens to visit this town that is only three hours from the capital.
“Today Gjirokaster has more than 200 houses that are open for the public. Before promoting it for foreign tourism, the locals can also experience a beautiful time in Gjirokaster”, Veliaj declared.
Veliaj underlined that this town produces most of the Albanian goods, and the employment level is among the highest.
“80% of the Albanian food is produced in Gjirokaster. It is the town with the lowest level of social welfare, and with more employed people who make a job for themselves”, Veliaj declared.
This mini-fair will tay open for two days.
