Gjin Gjoni, HCJ member

In these days charged of electoral campaigns, judges also elected their
newest member that will represent their interests at the HCJ.

Judges closed the justice doors for today and brought an unusual electoral novelty in our country, when the two runners were seen casting their votes together.

After five hours of speeches, voting, pauses and waits, 226 judges voted in favor of the Court of Appeal Judge, Gjin Gjini, and 107 voted for Genti Shala. Gjoni’s victory was welcomed with civil sportsmanship by his adversary.

What we know today is that the HCJ has turned into an institution of men, since they have no female member.

This means that although they respected their vote, judges forgot another important principle: gender equality, although their total numbers in the judiciary are almost the same.
