The Mayor of Vlore, Shpetim Gjika, has been transferred to the prison
hospital of Tirana, since his health conditions did not improve at the
hospital of Vlore.

Gjika was removed from the hospital under high police security ad the relatives who stayed with him in hospital. Sources from the Vlore Prosecution say that the apartment building for which the accusations have started will soon be seized by the police.

Gjika has not been interrogated yet. This might not happen until his health conditions have improved.

Mayor Gjika was arrested this Friday at his Vlore residence, after he was accused by the Prosecution over power abuse in the process of a construction permit for a 11-store building in Vlore. The Director of Territorial Planning in this Municipality, Doriana Sulaj, and businessman Artur Harxhi were also arrested.

Only a few hours after the arrest, Gjika showed signs of worsening health conditions, strong pains in the chest and high blood pressure, which forced authorities to send him to the regional hospital. He was kept under surveillance for the night. After improving, the doctors sent him to the Tirana prison hospital for a more specialized treatment.
