The administrator of the export company of the returned cargo of cucumbers a few days ago from Germany, explained the use of the contested pesticide Oksamil.
But unlike the state agency that says that opnly the usage has been exceeded, the administrator explains that the pesticide used is banned in the EU. This is not the first time that cargoes are stopped in countries of the EU bloc, Lulzim Sari says, as it has happened to other Albannian companies for the same reason.
“The reason for the return, according to the AKU agency, is that the usage rate has been exceeded. But this is not the truth. This preparation has been banned in the EU since September. I have a list of 36 preparations that are not allowed to be imported, but can only be used in the Republic of Albania. They arrived here in November 2023, but were taken out of circulation since 3-4 years in the block”, said the company’s administrator.
“We have done the traceability, the verification. The subject does not sell in Albania, but abroad”, said the inspector of AKU Fier, Krenar Çuni.
But, while the AKU inspector in Fier talks about the blockage, the company’s administrator says that such preparations should be taken out of circulation because they are used throughout Albania, so the ministry should intervene.
“I request intervention from the state to ban these preparations in our country as well, since not only are the products being returned from export, but a good part of these products are sold in the local market and endanger the health of Albanian consumers. This type of problem will continue if the state does not take measures to protect the production and citizens”, said Lulzim Sari further.
