Germany was put in motion for resolving the conflict between Serbia and
Kosovo for the electric power transmission line between both countries.
Berlin wants an accelerated resolution of the disagreement. The German Ministry of Cooperation and Economic Development has addressed the Vienna Energy Secretariat to unblock the situation.
Some months ago, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, declared in Parliament that he would ask Germany to intervene for thi conflict.
Germany is especially concerned about the matter on its own, since disagreements have blocked investments in the energy sector, delaying the integration of the of Wester Balkan energy market.
Serbia is the one that is now allowing the usage of this line, which serves not only to both countries, but also the entire region, including Albania.
Energy that could go from Serbia to Albania through Kosovo is unusable, a 75-million-EUR project funded by the German government.
Albania has filed several complaints at the Energy Secretariat, which has negotiated and has reached a bilateral agreement that wasn’t implemented.
Now it is the German government demanding for this matter to be resolved the soonest possible, assuming this way a negotiating role. Benefits for Albania would be very important, since the energy transmission lines would increase, together with connections with energy markets as well.
