Germany remains concerned by the high number of Albanian asylum seekers. At the “Migration Challenge” conference, the ambassador of Berlin told Prime Minister Edi Rama that their number remains high.

Susanne Schutz declared: “The number of migrants and asylum seekers is still very high. Albania is an EU candidate country, and it doesn’t have political persecution, which is one of the main reasons to give asylum. They will be returned to Albania, even through force, and they will be banned from Germany for 5 years”, she said.

The Prime Minister of Albania had another opinion. He said that the number of Albanian asylum seekers had dropped significantly. “There were many speculations about Albanian asylum seekers. There is a significant drop of their number. The recent report shows that Albania is no longer among the six countries with the highest asylum-seekers”, Rama said.

After this message for Western Chancelleries, Rama had another one for the internal politics, as he is being accused by the opposition of emptying the country by forcing Albanians to emigrate due to his bad governance.

“The number of emigrants has dropped, for the big surprise of anyone who lives under this political and media bombardment. The recent census shows that Albania has 20% less emigration than in 2013”.

Rama said there is a national plan undergoing for stopping the phenomenon.
