Renata Alt is the latest voice from Germany that supports the Kosovo issue.
The German liberal MP asked official Berlin to intermediate and pressure the five remaining EU members to recognize Kosovo.
This recognition is what Kosovo’s president, Hashim Thaci, has supported in his controversial plan for correcting the borders with Serbia.
In an interview for Deutsche Welle, the German MP hints that Germany is against border correction, while they support Kosovo’s recognition by everyone else.
The sudden interruption of the talks in Brussels, according to Alt, shows the unstable situation of these negotiations.
“Changing borders is a dangerous games that could have unpredictable consequences”, the lawmaker comments, saying that this could lead to a request by the Republika Srpska to join Serbia and that such changes only support nationalistic tendencies.
