The declaration of the German Minister, saying that organized crime had
infiltrated the structures of the government caused political debate.
The government and the opposition were both unprepared. Initially, it brought surprise to all political environments of Tirana. Then it spurred accusations from the opposition, mainly personal declarations on the media and social networks.
But the German Embassy seems to have settled things down. They explain through a press release that the German Interior Minister were not reported accurately by some media. The German Embassy underlines that the declaration made on October 1st 2014 referred to the situation of 2013.
“I spoke with the Interior Minister, together with a French colleague of mine. He is young in duty and very committed in the fight against organized crime. This is difficult, considering the fact that the organized crime had infiltrated in the state structures. This requires personal courage from those who govern it”, the German embassy quotes the German Minister of Interior.
After the accusations of the opposition, Prime Minister Rama reacted on Facebook and said: “I feel sorry for those who started crying about the so-called alarm for the crime related to the government, but, apparently, he was speaking about the old connections”, Rama declared.
