The Military Police arrested General Syrja Gjoka, Commander of the
Logistics Brigade in Tirana, accused of power abuse, as foreseen by
article 70/2 of the Military Criminal Code.
The prosecution suspects that from 2011 to 2012, the general has issued an order for destroying seven objects owned by the Armed Forces, without respecting the law and without a confirmation from his superiors.
The Prosecution suspects that the General has falsified some signatures of the Commission members who had the task to decide the objects that would be demolished.
An investigation of the Ministry of Defense shows that the financial damage mounts up to 6 million ALL.
This is not the first case against General Gjoka. There have been two other lawsuits against him in Tirana, but have not been recorded by this Prosecution.
The lawsuits were filed by the Ministry of Defense in the past four months. A decision of the Prosecutor General started the investigation once again for these cases.
The General is accused of theft and falsification of documents.
After filing these reports at the Prosecution on February 10th, Minister Kodheli propsed the President to relieve him from his duties.
