The increasing gas price in international markets has given immediate effects in Albania, increasing the final price for consumers with 5 ALL per litre in just two days.
The average petroleum price in Tirana is 183 ALL per litre, while petrol is sold at 184.
The price of liquid gas has had a steeper hike, with at least 10 ALL per litre.
Albanian Importers say for Top Channel that the oil price in international markets has increased with 84 USD, and signals coming from stock markets show that it could get pricier in the upcoming months, probably reaching 200 ALL per litre.
According to them, the only way to reduce the burden for citizens is lowering government taxes, which is 60% of the total price per litre.
For every litre that costs 184 ALL, Albanians pay 37 ALL as excise; 27 ALL of circulation tax, 3 ALL for the carbon tax and 7 to 10 ALL for the relicensing tax. But these are only the taxes that go to the state budget.
Besides these four taxes, there are two other fees that are paid to private concessionary operators. 1 ALL per litre goes to fuel markers, 1.4 ALL goes to the scanning concession.
And finally, buyers pay VAT, which is 20% of the total final price, or 30 per litre.
