See of Delegations with the Albanian Minister of Interior, Saimir
Tahiri, and the Police Director, Artan Didi, to inform them about the
plan of the Interior Ministry and Police in the fight against
cultivation and traffic of narcotics.
After the 90-minutes meeting, Top Channel asked the Italian Ambassador, Massimo Gaiani, if he is satisfied with the efforts made so far by the Albanian authorities in the fight against narcotics.
“Minister Tahiri explained the government’s plans for fighting this problem. We received a detailed explanation about what the government plans to do. We are dealing with a difficult problem. Let’s see ho it goes. We have started thinking of how we can help Albania fight this difficult decision”, Gaiani declared.
Minister Tahiri declared that the drug cultivation and traffic is a problem that goes beyond his Ministry.
“I shared with the ambassadors our strategy for our fight against drugs and the possibility to resolve this issue, which is not easy, but we will treat it with our international partners. We will start filming through airplanes the cultivated fields, while the process for the fight against this phenomena has already started. This problem goes beyond the police, the Interior Ministry and the government. The solution of this problem should involve the society and our partners. It requires an European solution”, Tahiri declared.
Tahiri valued the cooperation on terrain with the local authorities.
“600 informations have been administered by the police for each area, in specific parts of the territory that are considered dangerous for the cultivation. This means that there is cooperation with the local institutions in every district. We take this as evidence that we are working for a common goal, a safer Albania”, Tahiri declared.
