A 35-year-old pregnant woman and mother of two other children, died
together with her baby at the Koco Gliozheni hospital in Tirana. Their
funeral was held today, while doctors are being investigated by police.
The woman from Kukes was married 10 years ago, and she lived with her two children. Her husband had emigrated to Italy.
People who knew her are shocked. They describe her as a smiling young woman who was looking forward to have her daughter.
She was sent to the maternity with urgency, after not feeling well, but doctors kept her for 45 minutes and then sent her to the Cardiology, suspecting of heart problems. After no heart problems were found, she was sent to the Sanatorium, where doctors verified severe bleeding of her spleen. She was rushed to the maternity again, where doctors gathered for an extended consultation, but it was too late for both the mother and the child.
The authorities have started an investigation against doctors Helidon Klosi, Dritan Decka, Nazmie Ceni and a nurse.
The doctors were reported by the brother of the victim, Fation Homuri, who took her sister to hospital. Relatives accuse doctors of delaying their service, causing her death.
