Fule: Don’t lose anymore time

During her visit in Brussels, the Albanian Minister of Integration,
Majlinda Bregu, met the vice President of the left group at the European
Parliament, Libor Roucek, and the Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan
Fule.

The latter welcomed the recent action plan as a good base for the key reforms, but asked the country to use all capacities for progressing with the political criteria, the rule of law and the human rights.

“I received new guarantees that Albania will not lose time and will progress in all necessary actions for achieving a critical number of results in all areas. These changes should also include the conclusion of the electoral reform without obstacles, and the review of the Parliamentary Regulation, which would pave the way for progress in other areas too. I underline the importance of the reforms by all interested parties and the continuity of all inclusive and constructive dialogue between the government and the opposition”, Fule declared.

According to the Minister of Integration, after the reforms started in November, Brussels has changed its approach towards our country, which has been transmitted to the other EU member countries too.

“I am happy that after two years, we have the same approach, not only from the European Commission, because it would have been difficult for the Commission to have a positive approach if things would not have improved since November”, Bregu declared.

“What I said to the Commissioner – and I will quote my own words, for not making other references to the discussion – is that it is impossible to turn behind a moment in which our politicians have decided to show political responsibility”.

Minister Bregu attended meetings with the Head of the Delegation for Balkan, Eduard Kukan, and the rapporteur for Albania, Nicholaos Chountis. She referred a speech with topic “Albania and EU, the achievements, the challenges and the road toward the future”, in a meeting organized by Conrad Adenauer-Stiftung and Albania’s mission at the EU.
